Flying M Ranch – Summerset, CO

This 320 acre “Legacy” guest/cattle ranch is rich in history complete with it’s own 3000 ft grass landing strip. This secluded western Colorado paradise is set in a private valley with a rustic feel reminiscent of Montana but with a milder climate. Mostly irrigated lush meadows with good water rights, accommodates 50 cow/calf pairs plus ranch horses. Also, a healthy elk population reside and calve in the adjacent Gunnison National Forest. Muddy Creek borders the northern boundary and several spring fed ponds provide both stock water and wildlife habitat. A sizable pond below the improvements is stocked with several varieties of trout. A beautiful, rustic ranch gate leads to an impressive entry lane with vintage pole fencing on both sides all the way to the ranch compound.

Rustic improvements include the four bedroom main cabin that feature a generous light- filled sun porch/dining area, a large deck, living room and half bath. Next to the main cabin is a charming honeymoon cabin, several additional outbuildings, a garage, shop, equipment barn, smaller one-bedroom cabin plus his and her bath house with laundry room. The historic large barn includes four stalls, a large tack room, western Saloon and large upstairs hay storage that would make a great dance or event hall. There are several large pole corrals, a fenced horse pasture and a covered staging area immediately behind the barn.

Enjoy hunting, fishing, horseback or just strolling through the wildflowers amidst the shear natural beauty of Flying M Ranch…. and if you need to get back to civilization quickly, your under two hours to Aspen, Eagle/Vail or Montrose airports or less than 20 minutes in a Cessna 182. All three airports have Commercial air service. Paonia and Carbondale are less than an hour drive and both have good dining.
